I have this problem....
It is that my garden reality keeps smacking my garden fantasy up alongside the head.
I have this HUGE winter to do list but I also have this HUGE in my wildest dreams list that is just as important to me. When is it gonna be that the two will intertwine, intersect, or just plain get along?
Here is what I mean...
WINTER TO DO LIST
-
Finish weeding garden beds (ok as you all know this is a mess I created)
-
Prepare some of the pasture for ramblers like pumpkins, melons, squash and the like.
-
Remove the sod and mulch around all the fruit trees...all 30+ of them
-
Prune the grapes
-
Prune the fruit trees
-
Prepare more rows for grapes, raspberries, and marionberries
-
Build the supports for above fruit
-
Put a new corrugated roof on the chicken yard...I'm tired of all the mud and the wind blew thw last one off!
-
Make garden charts for next year's plantings, decide what to plant
-
Clean and condition tools
-
Find and clean seed starting pots and equipment
-
Build new rabbit hutch/pen...getting help on that from Alan!
-
The list goes on..
GARDEN FANTASY LIST
- Make and install two cold frames using some cool old windows I've salvaged
- Make some new gates and paint them Concord Grape Purple!
- Make an arbor for hardy kiwi and then plant it
- Build a garden house for sweet girl and baby to play in while I'm in the garden
- Take a class on and then build a wonderful Gothic greenhouse.
- Build a huge raised bed just for strawberries and veneer it with copper to keep the slugs out!
- Double Dig and plant an asparagus bed
- Make a small brick patio out of salvaged bricks I have and then find some cool old garden furniture to adorn it so I can sit in my fantasy garden sipping tea and watching the roses grow...
Now if I ever get my Winter chores done is it too much to ask that I might, just might get one or two thing off my Fantasy List done?
I would love to hear about your Garden Fantasy Lists!
