Last week I challenged you to try something new when taking pictures. Well I heeded my own advice and went out and played with my camera at sunset. Instead of having my subject with the light shining on it like this...
This was at sunset with the sun off to the side...the light is very pretty and quite mellow. I didn't want mellow, I was looking for dramatic!
So I picked the weeds and held them up to the sunset...it isn't often I take photos directly into the sun.
I even had my kids hold their hands up to the sun...oh my the drama! I love how their hands aren't much more the silhouettes with sunbeams flashing across them.
This makes me cry...

I love how the rays of the sun are washing across her face...she looks so somber. Wonder what she was thinking?
I think I'm going to have to go out at sundown more often...dinner can wait!
