I as I told you yesterday, we just broke new ground for a tomato patch.
I raked, amended, planted and supported.
It only seemed fair that the kids help...
But as you know from past posts I certainly do not believe in child labor...
No not me!

As these rows will more than likely be permanent I needed someone to walk up and down the paths to compact the soil as to discourage weed growth before I put down newspaper and straw.
So I did not tell my kids that it was a big maze as to entice them to go up and down...
So back and forth and up and down, did the little ones skip...
And stomp...
And mow?
Yes the baby decided to mow the paths!
He was doing great until he suddenly stopped.
What's wrong baby?
I'm out of gas!
Oh, of course...
I of course did not sit on my bale of straw watching my kids do my stomping for me...not me!
And I would certainly never just sit there when behind me...
No I would never sit and watch while my biggest boy hauled gravel...ahem.
No I certainly don't believe in child labor...especially not in my garden!
And I would never ask the big one to build a kiwi arbor, or a couple of cold frames, or even paint the chicken house...
No it would never occur to me!
Speaking of kids in the garden...
